Lynette H. Ong is Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto, with a joint appointment at the Department of Political Science and the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. She is an Asia specialist, whose research concern China, and Southeast Asia. She is the author of The Street and the Ballot Box, a recent book about Malaysia’s Bersih social movement and electoral politics, published by Cambridge University Press in 2022. She is also the author of Outsourcing Repression: Everyday State Power in Contemporary China (Oxford University Press, 2022).
