I have had a long interest in studying the past since I was a child. Currently, I am doing research about Pranata Mångsa, a Javanese agricultural calendar, cultural heritage, and the politics of knowledge (re)production. This project involves inventorying and researching the histories, practices, and uses of Pranata Mångsa and other grass-roots knowledge about agricultural calendars and seasons in Java and Southeast Asia.
I have the privilege to be a research fellow at various institutes, including the Asia Research Institute (ARI) at the National University of Singapore, the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS), and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies. From July 2023 to August 2024, I worked at IIAS as the Project Manager of the 13th International Convention of Asia Scholars, ICAS13, which took place in Surabaya, Indonesia and was jointly organized by IIAS and Airlangga University in Surabaya.
I have been involved in various activities with IIAS even long before I worked there. Therefore, I am thrilled to be a part of the selection committee for the fellowship program, which features a fresh approach that moves beyond the conventional fellowship framework used previously.
My main research interests are Ecological History; Heritage Studies; Politics of Knowledge (Re)Production; Cultural and Political Nationalism.
