Reviving the Bandung Spirit in Senegal: Dakar’s Landmark Conference-Festival Reimagines Africa-Asia Relations in a New Era of Knowledge Geopolitics
DAKAR, SENEGAL — 11 TO 14 JUNE 2025
The Senegalese capital will host the third edition of the conferencefestival Africa-Asia: A New Axis of Knowledge, bringing together scholars, artists, policymakers, and activists to explore evolving dynamics in South-South and South-North relations.
The programme includes Panels, Round Tables, Workshops, Performances, Concerts, Walking Tours and Film Sessions. The ConFest will officially open on 11 June with a special ceremony at the UCAD campus, featuring a performance by Senegalese singer Kalsoum.
Organised by the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) in partnership with Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) and the Collective Africa-Southeast Asia Platform (CASAP), this event follows previous editions held in Accra, Ghana (2015), and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2018). The Dakar edition aims to deepen and expand Afro-Asian connections through a genuinely transregional and local-global perspective, fostering innovative cross-continental dialogues.
