Delegation of Universitas Airlangga visits IIAS

21 September 2022

On 21 September, a delegation of the Airlangga University (Surabaya, Indonesia) headed by rector Prof. Mohammad Nasih visited IIAS to explore collaborative opportunities over lunch. This visit coincided with a visit of the delegates to Leiden University.

IIAS is assisting Universitas Airlangga to develop an international strategy within the framework of the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia regions. The entry point for this collaboration is the research-educational-policy initiative conducted under the Southeast Asia Neighborhoods Network (SEANNET) programme and the study of local (urban) communities, notably how they can inform international academic strategies. Members of the delegation are particularly interested in how they can carry out all their scholarly activities (including health, engineering and natural-life sciences), through a "local to global" framework.

Universitas Airlangga and IIAS have a longstanding relationship for many years and on different levels. Representatives of the university's Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences will visit IIAS in the near future.
